I grew up in San Antonio, TX in the 1960's and 1970's in Denver Heights neighborhood. It was a treat to walk to Wah Hings Market. It was located on either Porter St. or Aransas St. Wah Hing and his wife were the owners. His son Bill and his wife worked there also. I used to play with their granddaughter Cindy. They knew my family well. After we left the neighborhood in 1974, I returned to the Market after 25-30 years later, the Market was still open. I walked into the Market and turned to the left and went to the ice cream case. And there was my vanilla ice cream cup with a wooden stick in the same place as it had been for at least 45 years! It felt like deju va! When I went to the check out Bill's wife recognized me from when I was a child. I couldn't believe it. Unfortunately, she told me they were closing the Market. So many businesses, homes, & people were gone from the neighborhood. But they are in my memory forever.
